To our dear friends
2007 has been another eventful
year, two successful table tops and another really enjoyable dog
show which gets bigger every
year. An exciting lucrative charity auction was among the many
fund raising events, thank you to Kit and her team for raising
over £6000 and still counting.
These events appear to those watching to run smoothly,
but to get that effect, there is so much work involved.
The charity’s
volunteers are a wonderful group of people who work tirelessly,
each in their own way, for it’s benefit and therefore
the benefit of the dogs and they have my very grateful thanks.
Amazingly after trying for 6 years to get in, our Sue Lynch
ran the London Marathon for us and raised £2000.Our thanks
also to Debbie who ran and raised £500.
This year has, I think, been ‘puppy
year’. We
have had some eight litters into care, those actually born at the sanctuary and the rest from one to fourteen
weeks old. It has saddened me to see the number of young dogs
being abandoned and at the other end of the scale elderly unwanted
dogs who really should be ending their lives in the bosom of
their families.
This years has seen a very nasty strain of kennel cough, the
public on the whole probably are not aware of how dangerous
and life threatening it can be, particularly to the young and
very old dogs and any that have respiratory problems. The cough
is very distressing to the dogs also. It is highly infectious
and needs veterinary treatment but please, if your dog is coughing,
take appropriate precautions when at your veterinary surgery
so that they don’t infect other dogs.
I thank you all for your continued support of this charity
and to my wonderful extended family of volunteers, my love
and gratitude for without you I could not continue with the
work that is so dear to all our hearts.
God bless you all,
Lyn xx
