To our dear friends
2008
- where did it go? The weeks and months following in even quicker
succession than last year. Nothing changes however on the
Animal Front. This year there has been an increase in the old dogs
finding their way to the Sanctuary, some very frail and most suffering
and needing veterinary treatment. Some are left without even a
note to give us their name. To abandon an animal is bad enough
but to deprive it
of a name is even worse I feel.
The number of young dogs, under a year old, coming into care has
also increased – so very sad. To take on a puppy is a real
commitment and should always be very seriously thought through.
You take on something that will be dependent upon you and your
family for some twelve to sixteen years, however what you gain
from that commitment cannot be measured and can never be equalled
to a human one – it is total.
We have been asked, and have given, help and advice to many people
from many places through our website. This has enabled us to provide
Veterinary treatment to many animals that would otherwise have
been left in pain or destroyed. We are proud to have been able
to do this. To my wonderful group of Volunteers who tirelessly
work to support me fundraising, fostering, collecting, vet runs,
invaluable help at the Sanctuary ,my loyal and committed Trustees,
just for being there for me my very grateful thanks.
Without you the Charity could not do the great work for the animals
that it does do. My thanks too to our Sponsors for their continued
support and to the very generous person who continues to make anonymous
donations on a very regular basis.
This year too there has been an increase in my extended family.
Kit has become a great grandmother to Grace and Aston, Mary and
George have become grandparents again to Georgio Maisie, Dave and
Bev have become first time grandparents to George, and our own
Yvonne and Danny have become enchanted with little
Noah.
Sadly this year we lost Marjorie King who since first we met many
years ago has been a very active supporter of Happy Dogs. We shall
miss her as will Allison and the dogs. Lastly my thanks to those
wonderful people who find their way to the Sanctuary, which is
not easy, and adopt a Happy Dog. They take them into their hearts
and their homes and continue long after adoption to share them
with me. I value the commitment from you all, God Bless
Lyn xx
