Aztec came into care when her owners marraige
failed and she was an absolute joy. She settled immediately with
the other dogs that
live here permanmently at the Sanctuary and it became her home.
She loved everyone and everything and so she would come with me
on collecting days outside the superstores or on the street collections
with our tins. She was absolutely brilliant and helped to raise
an awful lot of money for the benefit of the abused and abandoned
and neglected dogs that came into the Charitys care. She had no
faults at all. I used to tell her often that she was just "PERFICK"!
She had such a generous loving nature, a tail
that never stopped waving and a lovely smiley face. She was also
a canine blood donor.
She had done so much to help her canine friends since she had
come to us that in the latter part of 2008 I decided to retire
her and
find a loving Twilight home for her where she could enjoy what
time was left to her as part of a smaller family than that which
she had had at the Sanctuary. As always when I need them along
came a lovely couple, Barbara and Roy King, who fell in love
with her (as you do) and took her into their home and their hearts.
I saw her often and she was very happy with
them and spent her first Christmas away from the Sanctuary with
her new family.
She
had a wonderful time with Roy and Barbara and their children
and grandchildren and it was good. Then on Monday 16th February
came
the dreaded phone call from Roy. Aztec had collapsed and was
having fits. I rushed over and got her to our vets who did everything
they possibly could but on the Wednesday 18th I had to let her
go while she still had some dignity. She had cancer of the pancreas
and there was no way I could let my Golden Girl suffer. She wagged
that beautiful tail right up to the end and she has left a hole
in our hearts that cannot be filled. God Bless Aztec we shall
never
forget you or your happy happy smiley face my PERFICK girl.
